A street scene in the French city of Arles

It's a beautiful city in southern France, located on the banks of the Rhône River in the Provence region. Van Gogh's paintings are renowned for being inspired by the locale, and their influence can be seen in the contemporary art displayed at the Fondation Vincent Van Gogh as well. A former provincial capital of ancient Rome, Arles is also known for its many remains from that era, including the Arles Amphitheater (le Arènes d'Arles) that hosts performances, concerts, and bullfights today.
